This was one of my favorite experiences volunteering. The Latin Billboard Conference & Awards is a week worth of events and panels with some of the top industry professionals and artist in the Latin music industry.
The event I worked specifically was the Award Show After Party. My role in it was dealing with the press and photographers that wanted to talk and take pictures of the acts performing at the after party. Since this is an event dealing with performers from all over Latin America and the Caribbean I had the opportunity to network with press from all of those countries while I was doing my job.
At this event I learned that one of the perks of doing a good job as a volunteer is that people remember that and they want to reward that. By the time I was recommended as a volunteer for this event I had proved myself as an intern enough that my supervisor with the Billboards allowed me to participate in the events all week long. I had access that week to numerous panels and performers that I would have not been able to witness if it wasn't for her generosity.
